GMI Day 2025: Celebrating Connection, Culture, and Community at Torri l-Abjad

On the evening of June 20th, 2025, GasanMamo Insurance proudly hosted its annual GMI Day, an internal event that celebrates the company’s values, people, and community ties. Held at the beautifully restored White Tower (Torri l-Abjad) in Aħrax, Mellieħa, the event brought together employees, partners, and special guests for a memorable night of reflection, recognition, and celebration.
A Historic Setting with Modern Significance
Torri l-Abjad, a prominent coastal tower in northern Malta, served as a stunning venue for this year’s gathering. This location holds particular significance for GasanMamo, which recently sponsored a new lighting system at the tower. The project, carried out in collaboration with Din l-Art Ħelwa and the Mellieħa Local Council, enhances the tower’s visibility and preservation while making this important heritage site more accessible and enjoyable for locals and visitors alike.
“Thanks to GasanMamo’s support, Torri l-Abjad is shining once again — not just physically, but as a symbol of heritage and collaboration.” – Stanley Farrugia Randon, a representative of Din l-Art Ħelwa.
This sponsorship forms part of GasanMamo’s wider corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to preserve Malta’s cultural legacy and invest in long-term community initiatives.
Welcome Address by Managing Director Julian Mamo
As the sun set over the coast, guests gathered to enjoy a relaxed meet-and-mingle session. At approximately 7:00PM, Managing Director Julian Mamo addressed the attendees with a heartfelt speech. He reflected on GasanMamo’s role in preserving cultural landmarks like Torri l-Abjad and emphasised the importance of sustaining the connection between people, place, and purpose.
Julian highlighted how the company’s support of the White Tower’s lighting system is more than just a sponsorship — it’s a reflection of GasanMamo’s deep-rooted commitment to community investment and environmental awareness.
Honouring CSR Partners and Special Guests
In line with the company’s purpose-driven mission, Julian extended a warm welcome to several special guests who represent GasanMamo’s diverse CSR partnerships. These collaborators have all contributed meaningfully to their respective sectors, and their presence on GMI Day was a testament to shared values.
Honoured guests included:
- Jacob’s Brew Coffee Van – a social enterprise that champions mental health awareness and community wellbeing.
- Haley Bugeja – a Maltese national team footballer, currently playing for Inter Women (FC Internazionale Milano), and a role model for women in sport both locally and internationally.

- The Notarial Archives – dedicated to the preservation of Malta’s legal and historical documentation.

GasanMamo’s collaboration with these organisations underscores a strategic approach to CSR that’s based on lasting impact, visibility, and shared growth.
Recognising Long-Standing Employee Service
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the formal recognition of several GasanMamo employees for their long-standing service and unwavering dedication to the company. Julian Mamo personally acknowledged:
- Hubert Said, Daniel Xriha, and Steve Mizzi – for an impressive 25 years of service.
- Mark Mamo, Claudia Buttigieg, and Dorian Vassallo – celebrating 20 years with the company.

— Steve Mizzi, Head of Product and Operational Systems and Processes.
An Evening of Connection, Music, and Coastal Views
Following the formalities, guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, accompanied by live music that filled the coastal air with vibrant sound and energy. The ambiance was relaxed yet celebratory, with the softly illuminated White Tower in the background creating a truly magical setting.
From heartfelt speeches to warm reunions and new conversations, the evening perfectly captured the spirit of GMI Day — a celebration of who we are, what we’ve achieved, and the connections that continue to move us forward.
