GasanMamo Insurance Supports Gozo Marathon 2025 | Celebrating 50 Years of Il-Ġirja t’Għawdex

GasanMamo Insurance is proud to have supported the 50th edition of Il-Ġirja t’Għawdex, which took place on Sunday, 27th April 2025. This year’s Gozo Marathon marked a major milestone in Malta’s sporting calendar, welcoming a record-breaking 1,550 participants from 51 countries, making it the most attended edition to date.

Since its beginnings in 1977, Il-Ġirja t’Għawdex has grown into an internationally recognised race that celebrates Gozo’s natural beauty, community spirit, and athletic achievement. GasanMamo Insurance supported this special edition as a silver partner, reflecting our continued commitment to promoting health, wellbeing, and local engagement.

To honour its 50-year legacy, organisers launched a special exhibition, Il-Ġirja t’Għawdex: A Legacy Through Time, which featured a rich collection of historical photos, memorabilia, and stories from past races. The display provided insight into the race’s journey from its grassroots origins to becoming a landmark sporting event in Malta, certified by European Athletics, MAAA, and AIMS.

For the first time, the event was broadcast live on TVM Sport, enabling thousands of viewers locally and abroad to follow the race in real time. This step built on the success of previous live-streams and helped bring Gozo’s iconic landscapes and vibrant atmosphere to a wider audience.

The 2025 edition also championed sustainability, with thoughtful initiatives like compostable cups, electric lead vehicles, and eco-friendly trophies made from surplus Gozitan stone. These efforts reflect the organisers’ dedication to reducing environmental impact while celebrating community and sport.
